BULLY
How can we design a fairing for a Matchless-Norton GT race bike while fully designing and fabricating the project within the constraints of a 315-square-foot studio apartment?

We drew inspiration from the British Spitfire Seafire, emulating its soft aluminum curves while maintaining its muscular presence.
In these initial sketches, we explored different directions, debating between futuristic and restomod styles. Getting all our ideas out early helped us identify what worked and what didn't.
We followed classic British design principles, shifting the visual mass forward from the center to create a forward-propelling stance inspired by an English bulldog.
We built a full-scale buck matching the bike's dimensions, which we then could scan and recreate in 3D to create a mold for fiberglassing.
The buck was placed in the “living room” of our studio apartment between our two beds. This is where most of the foam shaping was done.
BEHIND OUR BUILDING
We needed to move the buck behind the building so we could do the spackle work in preparation for scanning. (It was also getting hard to breathe in the apartment with all the foam dust.)
